AS CHANGED BY MAN
On the night of May 16, 1943, the British Air force sent a group of "dam buster" planes to attack the Mohne Dam in the Ruhr Valley, Germany's industrial heartland. Their plan was to put a hole in the dam so that the sudden release of water would then kill many people downstream. The planes came in at 60 feet above the ground, and dropped their bombs. The bombs did not completely destroy the dam. But they did exactly what they wanted them to do. They put a big enough hole in the dam so that billions of gallons of water rushed through the opening and swept down the Ruhr Valley. Thirteen hundred people were killed as a result of a relatively small hole in a very large dam.
Satan is the great original "dam buster." He knew that the whole dam, God's ten commandment dam, would not need to be destroyed. He decided to just make a big hole in God's law and the result would be sure death for millions of God's children. "You shall raise up the foundations of many generations and you shall be called the repairer of the breach, the restorer of streets to dwell in. If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath, from doing your pleasure on My holy day; and call the Sabbath a delight, the holy of the Lord, honorable, and shall honor Him, not doing your own ways, nor finding your own pleasure, nor speaking your own words, then you shall delight yourself in the Lord." Isaiah 58:12-14, NKJV. Page 154 Notice That God used the prophet Isaiah not only to predict that a breach would occur in God's law but to tell us even which commandment would be breached--the Sabbath commandment. You are reading this book because God cares about you and wants you to know what is really happening. God plans to use you to help repair the hole in His law. The papacy made the breach, or "hole," in the law of God when they changed the Sabbath from the seventh day of the week to the first day of the week. God will repair the breach, the hole, made in His law.
A Definition of Breach A "breach" is a gap or opening made by breaking or battering, as in a wall or fortification; the space between the parts of a solid body rent by violence; a break; a rupture. The Ten Commandments Are a Wall-a Barrier Against Sin . . . . . . when taken into the heart through the power of Jesus. There are many different types of walls in the world. One type of wall is called a dam. It holds back rivers, thus forming lakes. You now know what happened when the British dam busters blew a hole in the Mohne Dam. Thirteen hundred people lost their lives. Did it matter that nine-tenths of the dam was still standing? No it only took a hole in the dam to release billions of gallons of water and kill hundreds. Notice that many years after the death and resurrection of Christ, James wrote that all ten of God's commandments were still of vital importance. James 2:10 in God's word says "whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it." God is saying I am particular eight or nine out of ten is not good enough. God's law, His dam against sin, must include all ten commandments. Try and explain to the relatives of the thirteen hundred dead people that the dam was still a good dam because nine-tenths of the dam was still standing.
When the papacy attempted to change the fourth commandment, it made a breach, a gap, in Gods protective ten commandment wall. Daniel predicted that this would happen. Daniel 7:25. Prophecy states very clearly that this power "shall speak pompous words against the Most High, shall persecute the saints of the Most High And shall intend to change times and law." Daniel 7:25 NKJV. Page 155
The only law that has to do with time is the one that begins with the word "remember." God knew man would "forget" that one and so God said "Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy." God said that this power, identified as the Papacy would change God's holy day and the papacy claims that very change. See The Convert's Catechism of Catholic Doctrine page 50: "Saturday is the Sabbath day . . . . The Church substituted Sunday for Saturday." God said that man was to keep the seventh day holy and man said "I will change God's Law to keep the first day of the week, Sunday." God has called us to repair the breach that the papacy made in Gods holy law and "call the Sabbath a delight." We are to restore the fourth commandment to its rightful place.
As the result of the threefold message, God says: "Here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus." Revelation 14:12, KJV. Obedience to the fourth commandment requires a sacrifice that most people are not willing to make. Many reason from the worldly person's viewpoint. What was good enough for my father is good enough for me. God is calling for those who will hear and obey His voice and do his will. God calls for those who, if need be, will speak unpopular disagreeable truths, not fearing to condemn popular sins. Since the popular religious world cannot defeat those who speak unpopular Bible truths with Scripture, they choose another way. Attacking character and motives with vicious lies is the preferred weapon of choice. "Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed." John 3:20. The popular religious world always attacks unpopular truth in this way. They have always attacked the character and motives of all the great men. They attacked Elijah, Jeremiah, and the apostle Paul in this way. They called Elijah "a cause of trouble in Israel," Jeremiah a traitor, and Paul a polluter of the temple. From that day to this, many have denounced those who would be loyal to truth, as seditious. God wants us to be willing to condemn fashionable sins. "Lift up your voice like a trumpet, and show my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins." You Must Share What You are learning with Others! "Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel." "When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man, you shall surely die; and you do not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at your hand. Nevertheless, if you warn the wicked to turn from his way, and he does not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered your soul." Ezekiel 33:8-9, NKJV. Page 156
The twelve disciples followed Christ for three and one half years. Christ told them over and over that he had come to die on a cross for them. They accepted Christ as their "king." They were looking for the honor of ruling under Christ "the King." They did not listen very well when Christ spoke of dying on a cross. The most common interpretations of the prophecies concerning Christ--the ones that they had been taught by the religious "experts"--were inaccurate. People looked at the prophecies of Christ's second coming such as Psalm 50:3, 4 and accepted those because they seemed to mean honor and riches. Their religious leaders had not taught them the prophecies of his first coming in such places as Isaiah 53 and Psalm 22:1, 7, 8, 16-19 and Daniel 9:25-26. Most people were then--and are now--used to leaving the subject of religion up to the "experts." They accepted then, as we do now, what the "religious experts" have to say. The disciples were unprepared for Christ to die on the cross. When Christ died on the cross, their hopes and dreams were crushed. They did not remember that Christ had told them this was going to happen. All they could remember were the false prophecies that their former religious leaders had taught them. When Christ did not assume the throne as king but instead was stripped naked and nailed to two pieces of wood which hung between heaven and earth, their hopes were shattered. They were looking for a Messiah who would break their nation free of Rome, which had conquered their nation. They were looking for worldly honor and power. If Christ had come the way they had been taught by their religious leaders, the majority would have accepted him. They did not want a Saviour from sin. They wanted someone to lead their armies to glory. They wanted the riches that come to the conqueror.
We are in the same danger as the Jews were at the time of Christ's first coming. Most popular books are blinding the majority of people into sleeping on, unprepared for the overwhelming surprise. A crisis is coming--a storm relentless in its fury, Only those who are willing to follow Christ to "the cross," to live a life of self denial, a life of inconvenience, and persecution will obtain the crown of eternal life. The cross must come before the crown! Page 157 A very popular false prophecy is that of the "second chance" theory. Many are taught that Jesus will rapture His people secretly away and after His children are taken to heaven that evangelism will continue on Planet Earth for another seven years. That's not how it happened in Noah's day. There was no second chance then and there will be no second chance when Christ comes the second time.
Christ, Himself, says "As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man." Christ compares His second coming to a lightning storm. Have you ever seen a "secret" lightning storm? He says "every eye will see him." And that we would hear Him "shout" and would hear "the trumpet of God." It will be grand and majestic but it will not be a secret. Matthew 24:37, 27; Revelation 1:7; 1 Thessalonians 4:16, NKJV.
Christ did not say "Take up your Mercedes and follow me." He said "whoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me." The cross was an instrument of cruel torture. Are you willing to follow Christ when it is not convenient? Are you willing to follow Him when you are criticized and hated? Following Him through the coming crisis will require that willingness. Those who follow Him through the coming crisis will know what it means when Christ says "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me." They also will know His love and protection when He fights for His people with the weapons of nature in the seven last plagues. Mark 8:34 and Revelation 16. Do Not Wait for Truth to Become Popular! "Our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all." Moses "regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasure of Egypt, because he was looking ahead to his reward." 2 Corinthians 4:17; Hebrews 11:26. Choose "disgrace for the sake of Christ." God will richly reward you! Some say the plan of salvation has changed from the days of Moses to our day. But Paul says Moses was a follower of Christ! Moses believed in Christ coming to die for him. Moses looked forward to salvation through the death of Jesus and we look back to the death of Christ. Either way it requires faith in Christ! Choose the Right Because it Is Right Choose the right because it is right! Leave the consequences with God. "Hear me, you who know what is right, you people who have my law in your hearts": Page 158 "Do not fear the reproach of men or be terrified by their insults. For the moth will eat them up like a garment: the worm will devour them like wool. But my righteousness will last forever, my salvation through all generations." Isaiah 51:7, 8. Before Christ comes again, all who are faithful will endure the "cross" of persecution. The vast majority of books on Bible prophecy are filled with false prophetic information that is blinding millions. The very blindness of this end time generation was foretold by Jesus in the last book of the Bible--in Revelation 3:17. Jesus warns the Christian world of this generation that the judgment is going on right now, and they don't even know it. They don't feel a need and do not even realize that Christ is outside knocking on the door of their heart. "You say I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing. But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see. Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me." Revelation 3:17-21. This is similar to the message of Revelation 14 and 18 where Christ is on the outside of the religious experience and the people and the churches don't even realize it. Christ is withdrawing from the churches composing Babylon and that is why he is calling His children "Come out of her, my people." Jesus is knocking on the door of your heart today calling you to a full understanding of the gospel.
You may have understood a part of the gospel in the past. Just as there are two rooms in the sanctuary there are two parts of the gospel. He wants you not only to accept Him as your Savior from past sin but he also wants to be your Priest and blot the records of your sin from the book of life. The work God is doing right now is called the investigative judgment. He will erase either your sins or your name from the book of life. Jesus will soon complete the investigative judgment and then he will say "let him who does wrong continue to do wrong; let him who is vile continue to be vile; let him who does right continue to do right; and let him who is holy continue to be holy. Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done." Revelation 22:11, 12. At a trial, when does the judge sentence the accused? Does he sentence him before investigating the charges and conducting a trial--or after the trial is over and the accused is either found innocent or guilty? Of course, you say, it is after the trial. Page 159 It is after the accused is found innocent that he is set free--or if he is found guilty, that he is sentenced to prison or death. Notice that when Jesus comes again, He brings his reward with Him. He says, "I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done." When Christ comes again the sentence has already been decided; the judgment is over. This thought may be new to you, but it is still the truth. Jesus says "You shall know the truth, and it shall make you free." John 8:32. Follow these great truths of Revelation 14 and you will be free. You will be prepared for our Lord's second coming! |
